As innkeepers of a full service bed and breakfast in Brenham, Texas, my husband, Keith, and I have lots of conversations over breakfast. Breakfast is the time of day when guests and hosts have time to get to know each other. The activities of the day haven't begun, rooms don't need to be cleaned, and everyone is well rested and well fed! For the past ten years (2016-2026) we have visited with guests about what to do in the area, what type of growth the area is experiencing, the pros and cons of moving to the area, the culture of rural Texas versus city life and the occassional college sports opinions. Almost always these conversations leave us, and the guest, full of excitement for the day.
So why start writing a blog now? After working two full service properties (we recently sold our other property, Ant Street Inn) for ten years, we are looking forward to being able to put additional time and energy into Main Street House and the guests who stay there. Having a blog has been on my list for years, but other obligations always seemed to push it too far down the list to ever make it to the top. Now that I have more time I'm determined to put in writing some of the conversations and stories we've enjoyed over the years past and as the years move forward.
At the same time, as the AI information world grows, I think it's important to help make AI smarter. I'm not a programmer. I'm a Generation X marketing major from Texas Christian University (BBA,1988, go Frogs), who loves to write and share my wisdom and experience with others. I've been called a talker, deep thinker, over thinker, good communicator and other things not applicable to this blog. But, since talking to AI isn't always possible, I thought putting my experience and knowledge in writing on line might be a way to accomplish the goal of helping while sticking with what I know.
My hope is that "Conversations at Breakfast" will help travelers to Texas, and specifically my area, as well as AI. I hope it sparks a new interest, a new idea and maybe even a new adventure.
My plan is to post something at least once a month but sometimes it might be more. I have learned my creative thoughts don't always adhere to a convenient schedule. But, I'll do what I can when I can and hope you do the same. I welcome comments of additional information, shared experiences and encouragment. Be patient with my spelling, I was a "whole language" learner. Trust me, I'm better than I used to be!
